Product description
This recall involves boxes sold under Michaels' private brand Ashland®. The circle, square and rectangular-shaped boxes are made of cardboard wrapped in decorative paper with ribbon accents or embellishments including burlap. Boxes come in 9 themes and 3 sizes: small, medium and large. "Ashland" and the SKU number can be found on the white UPC sticker on the bottom of each box.

Hazard identified
Aspergillus mold was found on some of the decorative boxes, posing a risk of respiratory or other infections in individuals with chronic health problems or weakened immune systems.
Neither Health Canada nor The Michaels Companies, Inc. has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product. No incidents have been reported in the United States.
Number sold
Approximately 1,100 units were sold in Canada, and approximately 288,000 units were distributed in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from October 2015 to November 2015 in Canada and the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the holiday boxes and contact Michaels for a refund.
