Product description
This recall involves two 7.6-litre (2-gallon), 120-volt air compressors, with an operating pressure maximum of 100 PSI and air delivery of 0.4 standard cubic feet of air per minute at 90 PSI. These air compressors are offered in one unique configuration whereby two 3.8-litre (1-gallon) tanks are stacked upon each other. The units are sold under the Powermate® and HDXTM brand names.

Note that other model numbers have been recalled that were not sold into Canada. If you purchased Powermate® or HDX™ brand air compressors in the United States, please visit the CPSC's website to see the list of models affected in that country.
Hazard identified
The internal terminals of the pressure switch can come in contact with the motor housing causing electrification of the air compressor, posing a shock hazard to consumers.
Neither Health Canada nor MAT Industries, LLC has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these air compressors.
Number sold
Approximately 7,000 air compressors were sold in Canada and approximately 100,000 in the United States by various retailers.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from June 2010 through October 2013 in Canada and the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should stop using the recalled air compressors immediately and contact MAT Industries for a free repair.
