Hazard identified
Health Canada's inspection process has revealed that Kilz Complete Primer/Sealer/Stainblocker does not meet the requirements under Canadian law with respect to flame projection.
Additional testing by the company identified two additional products, Kilz Original Primer/Sealer/Stainblocker and Kilz Odourless Oil-Base Stain Blocker with the same flammability hazard.
"Flame projection" is the flame that results from the ignition of the chemical that is discharged from the spray container. The length of the flame projection generated by these products exceeds the Canadian regulated limit thereby posing a potential fire hazard.
The products are prohibited because they are too hazardous for household use and may lead to property damage, injury or death.
Neither Health Canada nor Masterchem Industries LLC has received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these products.
