Master Lock Tri-ball Mount
Product description
This voluntary recall involves the Master Lock Tri-ball Mount trailer hitch model 2948AT. The recalled products do not have a date code on the draw bar but they do have a 10,000 lb rating stamp in the 6 centimetres (2 5/16 inches) hitch ball.
Hazard identified
The 6 centimetres (2 5/16 inches) hitch ball may not meet the 4,535 kilograms (10,000 lbs) SAE rating which could lead to failure of the weld at the base of the ball, posing a potential safety hazard to consumers.
Neither Master Lock nor Health Canada have received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of the Tri-Ball Mounts in Canada.
Number sold
Approximately 142 of the recalled Tri-Ball Mounts were sold into Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled Tri-Ball Mounts were sold from May 19, 2011 to September 15, 2011. Similar mounts shipped before May 19, 2011 are not affected by or included in this recall.
