Product description
This recall involves the following sets of magnets, sold under the name "Magnetic Locker Gear":
- Horseshoe-shaped magnets: red and gray, and sold as a pack of 6.
- Bolt-shaped magnets: metallic-gray, shaped like different types of bolts, and sold as a pack of 4.
The recalled magnets can be identified by model number 1018-7941-00-000 and UPC 068488044077, which is printed on the product packaging.
Hazard identified
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the paint on the horseshoe-shaped magnets contains lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Merangue International Limited is voluntarily extending the recall to include the bolt-shaped magnets.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these products.

Approximately 19,700 of the recalled products were sold across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from June 2007 to February 2010.
