Product description
This recall involves the Paramount Fitness PL2100 leg curl machine, which is a single station weight machine that is designed to exercise the hamstring muscles.
The Paramount Fitness logo is printed vertically on the frame of the machine and the model number "PL2100" is printed on the exercise procedure label on the front of the machine.
The recalled machines have serial numbers that are between PL21-9301-000 and PL21-9510-099. The serial number is printed on the back of the weight stack frame on the lower right side of the machine.
Hazard identified
The consumer's hand can become caught between the cylindrical counter weight and the frame of the fitness machine, posing a crushing hazard that could result in lacerations and finger amputation.
Paramount Fitness has received 3 reports of incidents in the United States, including a finger amputation and 2 finger-crushing injuries. There have been no incidents or injuries in Canada reported to Paramount Fitness.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 10 of the recalled products were sold by fitness specialty dealers in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from January 1993 to October 1995.
