Lancaster Oscillating Fan Heater
Product description
This recall involves Lancaster Oscillating Fan Heaters that were sold exclusively by Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC). The heater can be identified by the CTC product # 043-5869, Supplier Product # HF-0036 and the date codes of 08** and 09**.
Canadian Tire product # 043-5869 is also used for Sunbeam-branded fan heaters. These products are not included in this recall.
Hazard identified
This voluntary recall has been initiated as a precautionary measure due to a splice construction within the product on some units may cause the units to overheat and melt the base.
The manufacturer is aware of six incidents in which consumers reported the product overheating and melting the base. There have been no reports of fire or injuries.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these heaters.
Number sold
Approximately 42,000 units of the affected fan heaters were sold at Canadian Tire stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The affected fan heaters were sold from 2008 to 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
