Product description

This recall involves Klein Tools Digital Clamp Meters with model numbers CL110, CL210, CL310 and CL110KIT. The recalled products have a black body housing with a backlit LCD display, an orange trigger and orange clamp mechanism. The part numbers are written on the front of each unit and date codes on the back of the unit. The meters are rated CAT III 600 Volts and measure voltage up to 600 Volts and alternating current up to 400 Amps. The affected products have ETL certification file number 5001748.

The model number can be found above the dial on the front of the product. The certification file number and the date code can be found on the back of the product.

Accessories in the CL110KIT, specifically the 10x Line Splitter, RT210 GFCI Receptacle Tester, test leads, batteries and carrying case, are not part of this recall.

Hazard identified

The meters can fail to give an accurate voltage reading, resulting in the operator falsely believing the electrical power is off, posing shock, electrocution and burn hazards.

Neither Health Canada nor Klein Tools has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to this product in Canada or in the United States.

Number sold

Approximately 3,330 units were sold in Canada and 121,000 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from November 2015 to April 2016 in various stores and online.

Place of origin

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Digital Clamp Meters and contact Klein Tools to arrange for a free replacement meter.
