Affected products
This recall involves the Indigenous Collection by Canadian Art Prints ceramic plates titled Tranquility & Teachings, which is indicated on the box and the back of the plates. The stock code is PLT015 and the UPC is 772665860151. Both the stock code and the UPC can be found on the box. The art is created by the artist William Monague. Tranquility artwork is a lakeside landscape at night in blues and greens with an eagle and moon in the night sky and turtles and bullrushes in the foreground. Teachings artwork is a lakeside landscape at night in blues and greens with a large moon in the sky and a glowing tipi with people inside in the midground.
Issue
Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that the recalled glazed ceramic plates contain lead in excess of allowable limits.
Lead is highly toxic, especially to children. A range of serious health effects have been associated with exposure to lead and cadmium, including anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, heart and immune system. In extreme cases, there have been deaths.
As of March 21, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada and in the United States.
