Dynamite 40-Amp FWD REV Brushed Electronic Speed Control in various ECX remote controlled vehicles
This recall involves the Dynamite 40-Amp FWD REV Brushed ESC – DYNS2201. The controllers are installed in the ECX 1/10 LiPo Circuit, Ruckus and Torment models of the following remote-controlled vehicles:: ECX03130T1, ECX03130T2, ECX03131T1, ECX03131T2, ECX03133T1, ECX03133T2, ECX03154.The ESC measures 5 centimetres length by 3 3/4 centimetres width. The model numbers can be found on the product box or in the owner's manual for each vehicle. The model vehicles measure about 18 inches in length and 12 inches in width and are hobby grade remote control models for ages 14 and up.
The vehicle's electronic speed control (ESC) can fail and short circuit, posing a fire hazard.
As of April 25, the company has received 3 reports of ESCs that caught fire in Canada, and no reports of injuries.
In the United States, Horizon Hobby has received 19 reports of the ESC in the model truck and cars catching fire. No injuries or property damage has been reported.
Approximately 540 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 18 600 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from October 2016 to December 2016 in both Canada and the USA.

Manufactured in China.

Consumers should immediately stop using the remote controlled vehicles and contact Horizon Hobby for repair or refund.
