Kobalt and Greenworks Cordless Electric Chainsaws
This recall involves certain Kobalt and Greenworks Pro brand named 18" 80V Cordless Electric Chainsaws.

In the event of chainsaw kickback, an affected chain brake guard could fail to activate the micro switch intended to stop the motor, which could allow the chain to continue moving. This can pose a risk of a laceration to the user or a bystander.
As of January 18, 2018, the company has received no report of incidents or injuries in Canada or in the United States.
Approximately 866 units of the Kobalt 80V 18” Cordless Electric Chainsaw and 1252 of the Greenworks Pro 80V Brushless 18” Cordless Electric Chainsaw units were sold in Canada.
Approximately 48,100 are the total numbers of all models sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The Greenworks models were sold in Canada from September 2015 to October 2017, and the Kobalt model was sold in Canada from September 2016 to October 2017.
The recalled products were sold from January 2015 to October 2017 in the United States.

Consumers should immediately stop using these chainsaws and contact Greenworks Tools for information regarding the repair.
