Product description
This recall involves only models HZ-420C and HZ-430C of Honeywell Surround Select Series of heaters distributed by Kaz Canada, Inc. under license from Honeywell. The heaters were manufactured in white and black colour.
Only the aforementioned model numbers are affected, no other Honeywell heaters are included in this voluntary recall.
The specific model number can be found on the on the bottom of the heater and will be embossed in the plastic casing as shown in Image 2. The date codes are important in determining whether the heater qualifies for the recall. The date codes are five digits long, and they can be found on the metal prong of the plug as shown in Image 3. If the last two digits in your date code are 11, you have the heater that is being recalled.
Hazard identified
The internal housing of the heater can detach, dislocating the heating element, which could penetrate the housing and potentially expose hot parts and/or circuitry of the heater.
Neither Kaz Canada Inc. nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these affected heaters.
Number sold
Approximately 6,000 units of the affected heaters were sold at various retailers in Canada including Rona, Home Hardware and Irly.
Time period sold
The affected heaters were sold from July 2011 to December 2011.
Place of origin

What you should do
Consumers should immediately contact Kaz Canada, Inc. to determine if their heater is included in the recall. If so, follow the instructions for product return in order to receive a refund. Consumers are advised to not return the heater back to the place of purchase.
