Product description
This recall involves the "Honey Bunny" infant terry bib with pocket. The pocket and back of the bib are made of vinyl material. The product was available in various trim colours and designs.
The product is identified by style number BB52 and UPC 773299000524. Products with different style numbers and UPC may also present a similar problem.
Hazard identified
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the bib contains phthalates which exceed the allowable limit. Specifically, the front pocket contains DEHP Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate) and DBP (Dibutylphtalate) and the back lining contains DEHP (Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate).
Studies suggest that certain phthalates, including DEHP and DBP, may cause reproductive and developmental abnormalities in young children when soft vinyl products containing phthalates are sucked or chewed for extended periods.
Neither Health Canada nor Abond Corporation has received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these bibs.

Number sold
An unknown number of the recalled bibs were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
Abond Corporation sold the bibs from October 2002 to November 2005; however the products remained available for sale at retail locations until January 2012.
