Product description
This recall involves the 12 Amp Homelite Electric Blower/Vacuum identified by model number UT42120, UPC number 046396552105 and serial numbers BMP3540001 through BMR2103100.
The blower/vacuum is red and black in colour and operates at two speeds. The name “Homelite” is located on the engine motor compartment and on the removable blower tube.
Hazard identified
In limited circumstances, some objects ingested during the vacuum mode can break through the plastic blower housing posing a potential laceration hazard to the operator.
Homelite has received one reported incident in the United States of an object damaging the blower housing. There have been no reports of incidents in Canada.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this electric blower.
Number sold
Approximately 13,648 units of the recalled blowers/vacuums were sold at Home Depot stores in Canada.
Approximately 241,000 units of the recalled blowers/vacuums were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled blowers/vacuums were sold from February 2012 to December 2012 in Canada and the United States.
