Product description
This recall involves the Hi-Lift Storage Hoist Classic and Hi-Lift Storage Hoist Pro. Each model is a hoist system that can be used to suspend various equipment from a ceiling via a pulley and strap system. Both models contain vertical hanging straps through which consumers insert their equipment to be stored. The packaging says "Spire Supply" and the straps are green in colour.
Hazard identified
The green straps may become compromised over time causing the straps to separate, allowing any suspended equipment to fall, posing an injury hazard.
As of July 28, 2020, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received two reports of the straps breaking, and no reports of injuries.
Number sold
The company reported that 250 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and 35,000 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold from January 2018 to April 2020.
