Product description
This recall involves a variety of Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVs) sold under the brand names Lifebreath, Tradewinds, Honeywell, Lennox, Fresh-X-Changer, American Aldes, Raydot, Standex, Sears Authorized Indoor Clean Air Services, Nutone, and Airflow.
All recalled units were manufactured between 1992 to 1998 by Nutech R. Holdings Inc. However, if the original white motor inside the unit has been replaced with a gray or black motor, the unit is not included in this recall. Recalled units can be identified by serial numbers containing the numbers 29, 39, 49, 59, 95, 96, 97, or 98.
Hazard identified
The motors in the recalled units can overheat, posing a potential fire hazard.
Nutech R. Hldngs Inc. has received 9 reports causing property damage with no reported injuries.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these units.
Number sold
Approximately 17,000 of the recalled units were sold at heating, plumbing and building supply retailers across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were distributed between 1992 and 1998.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Canada.
