Health Canada warns that the Omeet 4 Pack Warm White LED Plug-in Night Light for Kids available on Amazon.ca may pose a risk of electrical shock

Affected products

This alert involves the following product:

  • Omeet 4 Pack Warm White LED Plug-in Night Light for Kids

The affected product was sold as a 4–pack of star shaped night lights.  The product was sold on Amazon.ca under ASIN B07CK6J1Q4 and model number OMNL029A. Each star shaped night light is 5.5 cm deep, 8 cm wide and 8 cm in height.

Issue

Health Canada has determined that the affected product likely poses a danger to human health or safety and poses an unreasonable risk of electrical shock. The front cover on the night light can easily be removed, exposing the live prongs inside the product that remain plugged into the outlet, posing a serious risk of electrical shock.    

What you should do

Consumers who have the affected product should immediately stop using it and safely dispose of it in accordance with municipal electronic waste requirements.

Regularly check the Healthy Canadians Recalls and Safety Alerts database for dangerous products and take action to remove items of concern.

Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.

What is being done

The product has been removed from sale online from the Amazon.ca website. Health Canada has contacted the foreign selling company and is advising consumers to immediately stop using the affected night lights.

Amazon.ca reported that 262 units were sold in Canada between December 2019 to September 2023.

To date, no incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported to Health Canada.
