Health Canada warns that BabyTeddy 7 in 1 Convertible Baby Crib Wooden Baby Cot may pose entrapment, injury and chemical hazards

Issue
Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that this crib does not meet the Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations for the following reasons:
- The slats of the crib can break posing entrapment and injury hazards to infants.
- The gold paint used on the crib contains lead in excess of allowable limits. Lead is highly toxic, especially to children. A range of serious health effects have been associated with exposure to lead and cadmium, including anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, serious brain injury, convulsions, coma, as well as effects related to the liver, kidneys, heart and immune system. In extreme cases, there have been deaths.

Consumers who have this affected crib should immediately stop using it and safely dispose of the item in such a way that it cannot be used again. Consumers should find an alternative safe sleeping environment for their infant.

The product has been removed from sale online from the Amazon.ca website. Health Canada has contacted the foreign selling company and is advising consumers to immediately stop using the affected crib.
To date, no incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported to Health Canada.
Amazon reported that 58 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.
