Affected products

This alert involves Generic baby car seats for infants and toddlers, with adjustable headrest and shoulder straps sold under the following Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN): B0D29WX2MW.

The products were sold online by various sellers on the website Amazon.ca and may have also been sold through other online marketplaces

Issue

Health Canada has determined that the use of these restraints in a motor vehicle could increase the risk of injury in the event of a collision.

Additionally, these products do not display Transport Canada's National Safety Mark and therefore have not been certified to meet the safety requirements of the Motor Vehicle Restraint Systems and Booster Seats Safety Regulations.

The use of these restraints in a motor vehicle would be considered illegal under provincial and territorial highway regulations.

What you should do

Consumers who have these affected products should immediately stop using them and safely dispose of the items in such a way that they cannot be used again.

Regularly check the Healthy Canadians Recalls and Safety Alerts database for dangerous products and take action to remove items of concern.

Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of these products or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.

What is being done

The product has been removed from sale online from the website Amazon.ca. Health Canada has contacted the foreign selling companies and is advising consumers to immediately stop using the affected child restraint system.

Health Canada reminds consumers to learn about the risks of buying consumer products online (see Related Links above).

Amazon.ca reported that approximately 20 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

To date, no incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported to Health Canada.
