Hamilton Beach® Classic Chrome 2-Slice Toasters
Product description
This recall involves Hamilton Beach® classic chrome 2-slice toasters. The toasters have a chromed steel exterior, a front control panel with a rotary toast shade selector and function buttons arranged in an arc, a front removable crumb tray. Hamilton Beach® is printed across the front of the toaster.
Only Hamilton Beach toasters with specific series codes under model 22600 are included in this recall. The model number and series code are printed on the bottom of the toaster.
Hazard identified
The heating element on these toasters can remain energized indefinitely when an item is placed in the toaster, which may ignite the contents, posing a fire hazard if the toaster is placed near flammable items.
In the United States, Hamilton Beach has received 15 reports of toasters that did not pop-up as intended including three reports of minor damage to kitchen cabinets. No injuries have been reported.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of the affected toasters in Canada.
Number sold
Approximately 668 units of the affected products were sold by Sears Canada Online Catalog, Kitchen Stuff and The North West Company across Canada.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold from February 2008 to November 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
