Product description
This recall involves the H2O Mop® steam cleaner, which is an electrically-powered appliance. The cleaner uses microfiber or disposable cloths on a cleaning head through which steam is dispersed; the cleaning head has the letters "H2O" and "M" symbol printed on it. The mop is white and has a purple water tank.
The recalled H2O Mop® can be identified by model numbers 808.092 or OEM-TV-001, as well as one of the following reference numbers, which can be found printed on a label on the back of the product:
- TDC03186-03317
- M-TDC03305-03540
- M-H2OM1180
Recalled H2O Mops must have one of the model numbers listed and one of the reference numbers listed.
Hazard identified
The power cord can unexpectedly wear down and expose the wiring, posing a shock and burn hazard to consumers.
Thane Direct Canada Inc. has received two reports of incidents in Canada where users received shocks while using an H2O Mop®.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 206,328 units of the recalled product have been sold in Canada. The recalled products were sold at retailers such as Wal-Mart, Zellers, Loblaws, As-Seen-On-TV stores, and Linens N Things, as well as directly by Thane to consumers through television infomercials and online, and by TV Achats through its televised home shopping programs.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from June 2007 to September 2008.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using affected units and contact Thane to receive a free repair kit.
Consumers should confirm whether they have a recalled product by checking both the reference number and model number.
Thane is sending repair kits to all consumers who purchased any of the recalled mops directly from Thane.
