Product description

This recall involves the upper guardrails on either twin bed over twin bunk beds or twin bed over double bed loft design. The beds have a permanent label attached to the headboard or the footboard of the bed with the American Woodcrafters logo.

The affected beds are identifiable by the following SKU numbers: 1800-977 or 1800-969, PO numbers: 103276, 103432 or 300038 and the manufacturing date.

Hazard identified

Guardrails on the upper bunk or loft beds may crack and collapse, posing a fall hazard.

The firm has received two reports of cracked rails in the United States. No injuries have been reported.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these bunk beds.

Number sold

7 of the affected units of the bunk beds were sold in Canada and approximately 180 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected bunk beds were sold from October 2010 to June 2011 in Canada and the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Indonesia.

Consumers should immediately stop using the upper beds and contact American Woodcrafters or their furniture dealer to arrange for the installation of a free set of replacement guard rails.
