Product description
This recall involves the Honda HHT35 Trimmer. The product is used for trimming weeds, grass, and small bushes. The trimmer has a silver shaft with a gas powered Honda engine located at the top, bicycle-style handlebar grip for controlling the product, and a trimmer head at the bottom. A label on the shaft includes the words "Honda" and "HHT35S."
Trimmers subject to this recall can be identified by model number HHT35SUKCT and serial numbers between HAHA1002317 and HAHA1014741. The serial numbers can be found on the shaft below the handlebars.
Hazard identified
The shaft can crack and cause the lower gear case and cutting attachment to detach, posing a laceration hazard to the operator and bystanders.
American Honda Motor Company is aware of 11 incidents of broken or cracked shafts. No injuries have been reported.
Neither Honda Canada nor Health Canada have received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these recalled trimmers.
Number sold
Approximately 3,600 of the recalled trimmers were sold in Canada.
Approximately 14,000 of the recalled trimmers were distributed in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled trimmers were sold from August 2006 to February 2012 in Canada and from May 2006 to February 2012 in the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in the United States of America.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected trimmers and contact the nearest Honda Power Equipment dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair.
