Product description
This recall involves General Electric 2-Slice and 4-Slice Digital Toasters, which have a chrome steel body and a black plastic base. The GE logo is on a badge on the front of the toasters. The affected model numbers are 169150 and 169151.
Hazard identified
An electrical short between the heating element and the bread cage in some units can pose a risk of fire or electrical shock.
Neither Health Canada nor General Electric have received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these toasters.
Number sold
Approximately 6,541 units of the recalled toasters were sold exclusively at Walmart stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled toasters were sold from September 2007 to July 2008.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
