Product description

This recall involves GE Profile™ frontload washing machines manufactured between June 2008 and May 2010. The washers were sold in white, red and gold colors. The model and serial numbers are located on the bottom right side panel and on the top door frame of the washer.

Hazard identified

The washer's basket seam can separate during the final spin cycle, which in some instances can breach the washer's top panel, posing a potential risk of injury to consumers.

GE has received 19 reports (2 of which occurred in Canada) where the washer's basket separated during the final spin cycle, 10 of which breached the unit's top panel. No injuries have been reported.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these washers.

Number sold

Approximately 4,119 units of the affected washers were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected washers were sold from September 2008 to June 2011.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should only use the washer after adjusting the spin speed setting to "Medium"or "Low" before each use, and contact Mabe for a free in-home service call to repair the washer.
