Affected products
Single and Double Eight Layer Off-White Promo Futons manufactured by The Futon Shop
Product description
The Futons affected are single and double size with 8 layers encased in an off-white casing manufactured by The Futon Shop and sold from June 2009 to March 2014. The tag attached to the mattress is stamped with PROMO.
Hazard identified
The Futon Shop is voluntarily recalling these products after Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program determined that these single and double futon mattresses pose a flammability hazard.
The Hazardous Products (Mattresses) Regulations require that all mattresses, including futons, resist ignition when tested with a smouldering cigarette ignition.
Neither Health Canada nor The Futon Shop has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 750 were sold by The Futon Shop at their retail location at 1685 Main Street West, Unit 160 in Hamilton, Ontario. Approximately 40 of the futons were also sold at East West Futons at 464 Bloor Street West in Toronto, Ontario since December 2013.
Time period sold
The affected futons were sold from June 2009 to March 2014.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Ontario, Canada.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using these futon mattresses and contact the company for a replacement casing and barrier.
