Product description
This recall involves the Fred & Friends branded “Buff Baby Rattle” (UPC 728987019098).
It is a gray baby rattle, shaped like a dumbbell, and made from plastic with plastic pellets inside that rattle when shaken. Both ends of the rattle are marked with "0.2".
Hazard identified
The end cap of the rattle may become dislodged, exposing the user to small plastic pellets from inside the rattle. These small components can pose a choking hazard to young children.
Fred & Friends has received two reports of incidents (one in Canada and one in the United States), where the end cap of the rattle became dislodged, exposing the user to small plastic pellets from inside the rattle. No injuries have been reported.

Number sold
Approximately 9,337 units of the recalled rattles have been sold through Amazon.com, and various specialty toy and baby stores in Canada.
Approximately 47,503 units of the recalled rattles have been sold through Amazon.com, and various specialty toy and baby stores in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled rattles were sold from October 2011 to June 2013.

What you should do
Consumers should take the recalled rattle away from children immediately and contact Fred & Friends customer service to obtain further instructions on how to return the product for a refund.
For further instructions on the return of the product, consumers should contact the Fred & Friends Buff Baby Rattle toll-free safety recall line at 1-877-647-8644, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's website, or contact the company by email. Consumers will be offered a refund of $10.00 USD for each Buff Baby Rattle (UPC 728987019098) product that is returned to Fred & Friends in accordance with this recall.
Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.
