Product description

This recall involves two puzzle sets of coloured foam blocks with cut-outs in the shape of either numbers or alphabet letters. The foam cut-outs come in 5 different colours: blue, green, purple, yellow, and red. The puzzle set is sold in a clear plastic bag without a product name or description.

The first set has 10 foam square puzzle pieces. Each piece has a removable foam cut-out in the shape of a number. The bag in which this puzzle set was sold has a sticker with the UPC 8 80763 10674 0 and item #32681003.

The second set has 26 foam square puzzle pieces. Each piece has a removable foam cut-out in the shape of an alphabet letter. The bag in which this puzzle set was sold has a sticker with the UPC number 8 80763 10673 3 and Item number 32681002.

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the puzzle sets can break into small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children under 3 years of age.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.

Number sold

Approximately 698 sets of the puzzle with numbers and 481 sets of the puzzle with alphabet letters were sold at dollar stores in Quebec.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from March 2009 to August 2009.
