Product description

This recall expansion involves two Matrix Style Link and two Matrix Biolage Spray line products without the required hazard labelling (see first two images) and bearing the UPC and lot numbers listed below.

NOTE: This recall does not include products that have the required hazard labelling.

Hazard identified

The recalled products were not destined for the Canadian marketplace and do not have mandatory hazard labelling as required by the Cosmetic Regulations, under the Canadian Food and Drugs Act. Improper labelling could result in unintentional exposure to these products and lead to serious illness, injury or death.

As of August 30, 2019, the company has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 4,908 units of the affected product were distributed in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected products were distributed between January 2019 and May 2019.

What you should do

Consumers should discontinue use and contact Matrix Canada directly in order to return the items and obtain a refund.

For more information, consumers can contact Matrix by telephone at 1-888-422-6879 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday).

Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations, the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
