Product description
This recall involves various dehumidifiers manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. and sold under the brand names Danby, Fellini, Frigidaire, GE, Gree and Premiere. Recalled model numbers are listed below. The brand name and the pint capacity are printed on the front of the dehumidifier. The model number is printed on a sticker on the back, front or side of the unit. The dehumidifiers are white, beige, gray or black plastic and measure between 48 and 61 centimetres tall, 33 and 38 centimetres wide, and 23 and 28 centimetres deep.

Hazard identified
The dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke or catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
Gree Electric Appliances is aware of 446 incidents of dehumidifiers overheating, smoking, or catching fire in the United States. Of those incidents, 101 involved reported fires.
There have been three Canadian reports of overheating and no Canadian reports of injuries related to the use of these dehumidifiers.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these dehumidifiers.
Number sold
Approximately 55,251 recalled dehumidifiers were sold across Canada by Danby, Sunrise, Frigidaire, and MC Commercial Inc.
Approximately 2,565,000 recalled dehumidifiers were distributed in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled dehumidifiers were sold between August 2008 and August 2013 in Canada and between January 2005 and August 2013 in the United States.
Place of origin

What you should do
Consumers should stop using the recalled dehumidifiers immediately. Consumers are to call the recall service provider, Stericycle, at 1-866-853-2802 or go to Gree Dehumidifier Recall website for a refund.
Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.
Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
