Product description
This expanded recall involves additional models of Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC) and Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHP) sold under the Bryant, Carrier and Fast brand names. The recalled units have capacities of 7,000; 9,000; 12,000 and 15,000 BTUs and plug into 208/230 volt outlets.

Model and serial numbers are located on the ratings/data plate on the right front of the unit, underneath the removable front panel. A complete list of the serial numbers involved in this recall is available by calling Carrier or at www.carrier.com.
Hazard identified
The power cord plug can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
As of February 1, 2017, Carrier has received one report of an incident in Canada. The incident involved a cord that overheated with no injury reported.
In the United States, Carrier has received reports of approximately 36 incidents of overheating power cords with no injuries reported. The company had also received reports of 47 incidents of overheating prior to the April 2016 recall.
Number sold
Approximately 7,000 units were sold or distributed in Canada, in addition to the 9,444 units included in the April 2016 recall.
Approximately 87,000 units were sold in the United States, in addition to the 276,000 units recalled in December 2015.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold in Canada from 2002 to 2010.

Consumers should stop using and unplug the recalled units, and contact Carrier to receive a free replacement cord.
