Product description
This recall involves electroluminescent night lights by Molenaar (M-i Line), which are white with a panel that glows green when plugged into an electrical outlet for use.
Night lights that are rectangular have model number 2017, while those that are shaped like a house have model number 2019. The text "71980 U.S.A", the number "E84892", and a "UL Listed" certification mark are printed directly above the outlet blades on the back.
Hazard identified
The panel may melt or burn, resulting in risk of electrical shock or fire.
Molenaar has received 4 reports of incidents that resulted in minor smoke and property damage; there have been no reported injuries.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these night lights.
Number sold
Approximately 11,650 of the recalled night lights were distributed in Canada as various promotional item giveaways.
Time period sold
The recalled products were distributed from September 2005 to September 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in the United States.
