Product description
This recall involves the EA 30 Model Bicycle Stems by Easton-Bell Sports, Inc. The stems are aluminum with a four bolt face plate, which is a separate plate that allows easy installation to the handlebar. The recalled stems are black and approximately 9 to 13cm (3 1/2 to 5 inches) long.
The EA 30 stems were sold individually and can be identified by the following UPC numbers:
- UPC 76866785917 for the stem that is approximately 8cm (75mm) in length
- UPC 76866785924 for the stem that is approximately 9cm (90mm) in length
- UPC 76866785931 for the stem that is approximately 10cm (105mm) in length
- UPC 76866785948 for the stem that is approximately 12cm (120mm) in length
The stems can also be identified by the production code located on the side of the clamp next to the lower clamping screw. The production code is comprised of the calendar month (denoted by a letter A through L) and the year (denoted by a single digit).
Only the four bolt EA 30 Stems are included in this recall.
Hazard identified
The recalled four bold Easton EA 30 stems can crack and eventually break during use, posing a fall hazard to riders.
Neither Easton-Bell Sports nor Health Canada has received any incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of the recalled product.
Number sold
Approximately 5,100 of the recalled products were sold at Outdoor Gear Canada, Rocky Mountain, and other bicycle stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from March 2007 to August 2009.
Place of origin
