Product description
This recall includes all sizes and colours of Dublin Energy Solution Roman Shades made by Louis Hornick & Company. The roman shades have exposed cords on their backsides and are sold in the following colours: navy, chocolate, khaki and cream.
Dublin Roman Shades that were sold at Bed, Bath & Beyond Retail Stores had a width between 58 centimetres (23 inches) and 122 centimetres (48 inches) and a length of 163 centimetres (64 inches). They can also be identified by UPC numbers ranging from 029978013201 to 029978021664.
Dublin Roman Shades that were sold by Bed, Bath & Beyond through special order and through their website had a width between 26 centimetres (18 inches) and 183 centimetres (72 inches) and a length of 163 centimetres (64 inches). They can also be identified by UPC numbers ranging from 29978900419 to 29978902277.
There is also an orange, black, and white warning label (in English and Spanish) on the back of the head rail.
Hazard identified
Strangulation can occur when a child places his/her neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around his/her neck.
In the United States, there have been two reports of children becoming entangled in the exposed inner cord on the back of the shade, with no reported permanent injuries.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

Approximately 717 of the recalled roman shades were sold exclusively at Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled roman shades were sold were sold from December 2007 to November 2009.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Roman shades and contact Louis Hornick & Company to receive a free repair kit.
The repair kit involves removing the cords and attaching devices to manually raise and lower the shade. Consumers may also remove the cords without attaching the devices. However, the product will be inoperable and remain in the lowered position.
