Product description

This recall involves Daikin Streamer portable air purifiers with model number MC75KSU.  The affected air purifiers have serial number range from C0000101 to C000890, date codes of 2010.9 and 2012.6 and UPC 4906938919796.

The air purifiers are portable and are designed to remove dust, particles and allergens from indoor air in the home or office. They are cream-colored and measure about 58 centimetres (23 inches) tall by 38 centimetres (15 inches) wide by 20 centimetres (8 inches) deep. “Daikin” is printed on the front of the units. The model number is located on a rating plate on the lower right side of the units.

Hazard identified

The air purifier's circuit board can overheat and cause the air purifier to catch on fire.

Neither Health Canada, the CPSC nor Daikin Industries, Ltd. has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries in the United States or Canada related to the use of this product.

Number sold

Approximately 125 of the recalled units were sold in Canada and about 625 units in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled air purifiers were sold from December 2010 to October 2014 in Canada and the United States.

Place of origin

Designed in Japan; produced in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air purifier and contact Daikin for a free replacement or refund.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold, or even given away in Canada.
