Product description

This recall involves various metallic Kool Charmz Interchangeable Charms which are attached to an approximately 0.5 cm diameter metallic clasp.

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the recalled jewellery contains lead in excess of allowable limits.

Under the Children's Jewellery Regulations of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, it is illegal to import, advertise or sell jewellery items that appeal primarily to children under 15 years of age and contain more than 600 mg/kg total lead. Lead is highly toxic, especially to children. A range of serious health effects have been associated with exposure to lead, including anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, serious brain injury, convulsions, coma, as well as effects related to the liver, kidneys, heart and immune system. In extreme cases, there have been deaths.

As of March 28, 2017, the company has received no reports of injuries in Canada.

Approximately 30,201 units were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from March 2004 to December 2016.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewellery away from children and dispose of the products.
