Product description

This recall involves Crosley®, Frigidaire®, Kenmore®, and White-Westinghouse® clothes washers. There are three versions of washers included in this recall: top load washer, front load washer, and laundry centre.

Top load washer: The model and serial numbers can be found on the inside of the washer lid, in the top right-hand corner.

Front load washer: The model and serial numbers can be found on the inside edge of the door.

Laundry centre: The model and serial numbers can be found on the outer edge of the dryer's door, nearest the door's handle.

The recalled washers must have one of the model numbers and a serial number within the given range. However, please note that not all serial numbers within the range are included.

Not all serial numbers within these ranges are affected. Consumers with washers that fall within these ranges should contact Frigidaire or Sears Canada (only if they purchased the product from Sears Canada) to determine whether their washer is affected, and to arrange a service call if necessary.

Hazard identified

An internal defect in the washer's drain pump can cause heat to build up, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Neither Frigidaire nor Health Canada has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these washers.

Number sold

Approximately 7,332 of the recalled products were sold at major retailers including Sears and The Brick, as well as independent retailers across Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from February 2009 to May 2009.

Place of origin

Manufactured in the United States.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled washers and contact Frigidaire to schedule a free repair.
