Product description
This recall involves the Children's Size Ironing Board Toy, which is sold as a product in the Schylling's Little Helper Collection. The ironing board has a cushioned, decorated fabric top and red metallic support with legs. The toy also includes a red metallic iron with a wooden handle. The recalled toys can be identified by UPC 19649 21636 9.
Hazard identified
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the surface paint on the metal of the ironing board contains barium in excess of the allowable limit.
Some forms of barium are safely used in medical and commercial applications, while other forms of barium can be toxic, causing adverse health effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and cramps, as well as more severe symptoms. Children's toys coated with paint containing barium in excess of the allowable limit are strictly prohibited in Canada.
Neither Schylling Associates Inc. nor Health Canada have received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of this toy.

Approximately 1,100 of the recalled products were sold in Canada.

The recalled products were sold from February 2005 to September 2009.
