Product description
This recall involves Chaperone-brand infant car seats manufactured between April 2009 and May 2010, and with the following model numbers:
- E9L69P2
- E9L69P3
- E9L69P5
The serial number, model number, and manufacture date can be found on a white label on the underside of the car seat.
Hazard identified
The harness chest clip can break, creating sharp edges that could pose a laceration hazard. Due to its small size, the broken clip may also pose a choking hazard to young children.
Britax has received 1 complaint in Canada where the fragment of a chest clip was found in the mouth of an infant. In the United States, Britax has received 4 complaints.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these car seats.
Number sold
Approximately 2,350 units of the recalled car seats were sold by various retailers across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled car seats were sold from April 2009 to May 2010.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately check the back of the chest clip on their Chaperone infant car seats to see if the letters "PC" are moulded into the plastic. Car seats with "PC" are affected by this recall and these consumers should immediately contact Britax for a free repair kit.
Until the repair kit is received, Britax recommends that the car seat can continue to be used but urges parents and caregivers to regularly verify that the chest clip is not broken.
Car seats with the letters "POM" moulded into the back of the chest clip are not included in this recall.
