Product description
This recall involves the Ceramic Santa Tea Light Holder, which is designed in the image of Santa Claus. The red and white tea light holder is approximately 19 cm (7-½ inches) tall and 9 cm (3-½ inches) wide. It has a red metal hat and an opening in the back where a tea light candle can be placed.
The recalled product can be identified by SKU 2417274, which is printed on the bottom of the tea light holder.
Hazard identified
The flame from the tea light can ignite the tea light holder, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Pier 1 Imports, Inc. in the United States has received three reports of the tea light holders burning, with no reported injuries. One of the three incidents occurred in Canada.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these tea light holders.
Number sold
Approximately 3,000 of the recalled tea light holders were sold at Pier 1 Imports stores across Canada.
In the United States, approximately 61,500 of the recalled tea light holders were sold at Pier 1 Imports.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from September 2009 to December 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tea light holder and return it to the nearest Pier 1 Imports Inc. store for a full refund or merchandise credit.
