Product description

The recalled stationery kit includes a white plastic pencil case with a Canada flag on one side; an eraser with a Canada flag sticker; a white pencil sharpener with a red maple leaf sticker; a white plastic 15 cm (6 inch) ruler with three Canada flag stickers attached to it; and a red pencil.

Hazard identified

Testing by Health Canada has revealed that the stickers applied to the stationery kit items contain lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Health Canada has not received any reports of illness or incidents related to the use of this recalled product.

Number sold

Approximately 9,600 units of the recalled stationery kit were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled stationery kit product was sold from June 2006 to December 2008.
