Product description
This recall involves certain Calphalon Contemporary Cutlery knives and knife sets. The knives and knife blocks are marked with the Calphalon brand. Additionally, the knife style (for example, 8" Chef Knife) is marked on the blade and on the end of the hilt so as to be visible when the knife is inserted into a knife block.

Hazard identified
The blade on certain Calphalon Contemporary Cutlery knives and knife sets can break during use, posing a laceration hazard.
As of February 17, 2017, in Canada, the company has received 43 reports knife blades breaking during normal use or when dropped and no reports of injury. In the United States, the company has received approximately 3,150 reports of knife damage and 27 reports of cuts to consumers, including four injuries requiring stitches.
Number sold
Approximately 2,284 knives and knife sets (total of 7,119 units) of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 2 million knives were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled knives and knife sets were sold from September 2008 to December 2016 in Canada and the United States.
