Product description
This recall involves all 17-piece and 21-piece Contemporary Cutlery Knife Sets with the following model and UPC numbers:
- KNS17C/16853035694
- KNS21C/16853035717
The knife sets were manufactured from August of 2007 through May 1, 2011. The recalled cutlery sets do not have model or date code markings on the wooden block although all sets have the "Calphalon" logo stamped in black on the front.
Knife block sets with a three-digit number imprinted on the underside are not included in this recall.
Hazard identified
The tips of the slicing knife measuring 20.3 centimetres (8 inches) and/or the bread knife measuring 20.3 centimetres (8 inches) protrude through slots on the bottom row of the wooden block holder, posing a finger laceration hazard.
Calphalon Corporation has received one report of a cut finger injury.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these knife sets in Canada.
Number sold
Approximately 235 of the knife sets were sold in Canada and 217,000 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from August 2007 to May 2011 in Canada and the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
