Product description

This recall involves Brompton Bicycles with FAG bottom bracket cartridge BB66 and serial numbers from 1403284144 to 1705150001.  The bicycles can be any model, for example M, P, S or H-type, or any other configuration.

The serial number is located on a curved plate or silver sticker applied to the frame.

Hazard identified

The axle can fail without warning, posing an injury or fall hazard.

As of December 18, 2017, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries.

Number sold

Approximately 1,282 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, and approximately 8,400 units were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The product was distributed from April 2014 to May 2017.

Place of origin

Manufactured in United Kingdom.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact their local Brompton dealer to receive a free replacement bottom bracket cartridge.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.
