BRIO Soft Hammer Rattle

Product description

This recall involves a BRIO Soft Hammer Rattle toy.  The rattles have a wooden handle with a white plastic teething ring at one end and a red, yellow, white and green hammer head at the other end. The name "BRIO" is stamped on the hammer head. The rattle measures about 13 centimetres (5 inches) long. The item number 30423 can be found on the product packaging.

Hazard identified

Due to moisture in the raw material before manufacture, the wooden rings can crack and possibly release small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children

As of August 4, 2017, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.  In Europe, BRIO has received seven reports of the wooden ring cracking with no reports of injuries.

Number sold

Approximately 193 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 1490 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold in Canada and in the United Stated from March 2015 to July 2017 at various retailers and on-line.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately take these recalled rattles away from children and either return the product to the store where they purchased it or contact the distributor, Ravensburger North America, Inc. for a full refund or replacement product.
