Product description
This recall involves Briggs & Stratton Pressure Washer Surface Cleaners, which is used with a pressure washer (sold separately in Canada). The UPC code is 011675061784. Model number "6178" is printed on the packaging material but not on the unit itself.
The affected product has "3000 PSI" molded into the top of the black plastic housing. The corrected product does not have "3000 PSI" molded into the top of the housing.
Hazard identified
The surface cleaner's spray bar can break and detach from the central hub, causing the spray bar/nozzle to strike and/or break the unit's plastic housing. The spray bar/nozzle assembly, and/or pieces of the broken plastic housing can strike consumers. This poses a risk of injury to consumers.
As of April 12, 2018, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 4 reports of incidents involving product defects, and 1 report of injury resulting from the detachment of the spray/bar nozzle assembly.
Number sold
Approximately 5400 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 201,000 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled product was sold in Canada from May 2011 to February 2018, and in the United States from March 2010 to February 2018.
