BMX Bicycle Forks

Product description

This recall involves Box Components’ carbon fiber BMX bicycle forks. The forks are black with “BOX” printed in white on the side. The model numbers, XE, XL or XS, are printed in white letters on the front face of fork crown. The affected models have one of the following three serial numbers printed above the crown: 140508, 140606 or 140702.

Hazard identified

The steer tube can become loose in the crown of the fork, posing a fall hazard.

Health Canada has not received any consumer reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these bicycle forks.

Box Components has received 242 reports (none in Canada) of loosened tubes. No falls or injuries have been reported.

Number sold

Approximately 19 units of the recalled products were sold in Canada and about 4,100 units were sold globally.

Time period sold

The recalled forks were sold from July 2013 to April 2015 in Canada and the United States at independent bicycle stores and online at danscomp.com and jrbicycles.com.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled forks and contact Box Components for a free replacement bicycle fork.

For more information, consumers can contact Box Components toll-free at 1-888-279-9691 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST Monday through Friday, or online and click on "Recall" for more information.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
