Product description

This recall involves the Black & Decker® 8-cup programmable thermal coffeemaker. The recalled product can be identified by model number TCM1000KT, which is printed on the rating plate on the bottom of the coffeemaker.

Hazard identified

The coffeemaker can overheat or melt, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

There have been approximately 46 reports of melting or fire, with 16 having alleged property damage.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product.

Number sold

Approximately 77,066 of the recalled products were sold at Sears and Canadian Tire stores across Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from 2007 to July 2009.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.
