Affected products
This recall involves the Gummy Bear Shaped magnets sold on SHEIN. The product was sold in sets of 10, 20, or 30 bear shaped magnets in a variety of colours. Each magnet measures 1.1 cm wide and 1.8 cm in length.
Issue
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has determined that the magnets do not meet the performance criteria assessed for small powerful magnets set out in Table 3 of the general prohibitions under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.
Small, powerful magnets can be easily swallowed by children of all ages, posing serious and potentially life-threatening risks.
When more than one powerful magnet is swallowed in a short period of time, the magnets can attract one another while moving through the intestines. This can cause the intestines to twist, creating blockages or tearing of the intestinal walls.
As of March 16th, 2026, the company has received no reports of incident or injuries in Canada.
What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Gummy bear shaped magnets and dispose of the product. Consumers should confirm that they disposed of the product by clicking the confirmation link in the email notice sent by SHEIN. Upon receiving confirmation, SHEIN Canada will issue the consumer a full refund.
