Product description
This recall involves battery maintainer/chargers with the following CHARGE IT! model numbers: 4410 and 4420. The affected products are rectangular shaped chargers with red or yellow silicone rubber skin.
Hazard identified
A potential short circuit between the vehicle battery and the maintainer during battery charging could result in excessive heat causing the plastic case and/or output cables to melt. This could present a fire risk.
Clore Automotive has received reports of three potential incidents in the United States with no injuries and minor property damage. No incidents have been reported in Canada.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these chargers.
Number sold
Approximately 1,220 units of the affected chargers were sold at UAP/NAPA, Acklands-Grainger and other retailers across Canada.
Time period sold
The affected chargers were sold from October 2010 to February 2012.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop stop using the recalled products and contact Clore Automotive for instructions.
The recalled models have been discontinued and users will receive a similar battery maintainer free of charge after returning the affected models. Distributors are advised to return unsold units to Clore Automotive.
